Anyone who has tried to photograph birds, especially hummingbirds, knows that it can be somewhat hit or miss and often its more miss than hit. Every now and then, however, it all just works - the light is perfect, the focus locks in, you have your aperture and shutter speed right and your subject is a stunner.
I thought I had worked through most of my Costa Rica pictures. Tonight, I suddenly found this shot, that I had missed before, of a Blue-throated Goldentail Hummingbird that is lined up with its unique salmon-colored beak on a Porter Weed flower. This was taken at a rather magical place called La Cusinga Lodge, near Uvita.
